We stock over 18 material grades of stainless and nickel round bar including: 304/L, 316/L, 304H, 310S, 317L, 321H, Alloy 347H, Alloy 20, Alloy C-276, Duplex 2205, Super Duplex 2507, 254SMO, Alloy 200, Alloy 400, Alloy 600, Alloy 625, Alloy 800H/HP, Alloy 825.
304 stainless is a low-carbon (0.08% max) version of basic 18-8, also known as 302. Type 302 has 18% chromium and 8% nickel. Type 304 has a slightly lower strength than 302 due to its lower carbon content. Type 304 is used in welding applications, because the low carbon permits some exposure int he carbide precipitation range of 800F-1500F without the need for post-annealing operations. However, the severity of the corrosive environments may necessitate annealing after welding or the use of 304L.
